EH5 Space 1 - Large studio space

Large studio space (2700 sq ft)

Our 2700 sq ft studio space can be used for pretty much anything. The large space is a true blank canvas, half with a timber floor and half with a concrete floor, and with a permanent blackout making it suitable for a huge range of uses. A great film build space, virtual event space, set building, lighting pre-rigs/pre-programming or complete production set-ups are also all possible in this space. Highly skilled technicians are also available on site to help you achieve anything you need. Opening hours are currently by appointment only, but can be 24 hrs a day. Everything about EH5 is truly flexible!

Our large classroom space is ideal for seminars and training as well as interviews and presentations. Currently limited to a maximum of 8 people plus a presenter in order to maintain the recommended 2m social distancing. Various AV facilities are available on request, with technical support if required.

Production Offices (140 sq ft each)

Our production offices provide space for on site office work, additional green room areas, offline editing, hair and make-up rooms, dressing rooms or anything else you might need them for. Situated on the first floor, they have their own toilet facilities and a small kitchen is also available for use. The offices are available as an add-on to the studio hire or as a hire in their own right, subject to availability.

EH5 is the only space of its kind currently available in Edinburgh, it is extremely versatile and benefits from some great features:

Onsite expertise

EH5 Studios are attached to Blue Parrot Theatre & Live events, a production and rental house set up to provide lighting, sound, av, rigging and power distribution to the theatre and live events industry. They also stock some film lighting equipment.They have been trading for over 20 years and as such there is a wealth of technical expertise under the same roof. Always on hand for any advice or technical requirements.

High speed wifi

High speed wifi is available to all users of the building, included in the hire price.

Kitchen & vending machines

Kitchenette and hi-quality vending machines are available on site. Please note the kitchenette facilities are currently unavailable due to COVID-19.

Great location

Located in Granton, North Edinburgh, EH5 is a short journey from the city centre and has excellent transport links.

Plenty of car parking

Free car parking is available on site.

Frequently asked questions

What is your cancellation policy?

All hires must be pre-paid. Cancellation within 24 hours of the hire will result in no refund, cancellation within 5 days of the hire will result in a 50% refund. Cancellations over 5 days in advance of the hire will receive up to an 80% refund, depending on the length of hire that is being cancelled.

Do you accept payment by credit card?

Yes, we accept Visa Debit and Visa Credit cards as well as MasterCard.

What is the minimum hire period?

Minimum hire periods vary depending on the space and event type. Please get in touch with one of the team to discuss your requirements.

Can we smoke or vape on site?

EH5 is a no-smoking, no-vaping venue. Smoking or vaping is only permissible in the designated area outside.
